Huddle consists of six mechanical viewer headsets oriented in a circle. When one headset turns to the left, it causes all six headsets to turn to the left with it. Viewers are invited to form a “huddle” around the object as they look into the headsets. Drawing from motivational rhetoric and sports imagery, viewers enter a football huddle in which players are being bobbed around by the head coach. Audio, independent from each headset, syncs together into an energy generating and motivational composed chant. Eventually, viewers begin mirroring this same bobbing motion and moving in unison as a group. The work overall is looking at the mechanics of motivational rhetoric, groupthink, and social coordination as well as their relationship and influence upon each other.
